For more than twenty years I've worked at the intersection of audit, risk and governance in regulated financial services — most recently as Head of Audit for Zurich across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region, reporting to Board Risk, Compliance and Audit Committees.
What sets my work apart is timing. I rebuilt internal audit around data science and AI years before the rest of the industry moved — upskilling every auditor, embedding analytics into every engagement, and lifting the function into the top 10% globally for the insurance sector. It means I can tell a board, from practice rather than theory, what good AI and data governance actually looks like, where the control gaps hide, and what to ask management.
I'm a current Non-Executive Director of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia, where I chair the Investment Committee and serve on the Audit and Risk Committee. Alongside deep insurance and financial-services expertise, I bring two decades of M&A and integration-assurance experience, a record of building high-performing teams, and a forward lens on how AI, climate risk and economic volatility are reshaping the questions boards need to ask.
Re-elected to the board — a sustained mandate. Chair of the Investment Committee (2026–present), with fiduciary oversight of the investment portfolio and governance framework; member of the Audit and Risk Committee (2025–present).
Conceived and launched the IIA's national mentoring program for emerging audit professionals, and convened industry events on digital transformation in internal audit and audit-executive leadership.
Reported to Board Risk, Compliance and Audit Committees across life and general insurance. Led M&A assurance across the Asia-Pacific region as the group's global lead for integration assurance, and built and led a ~60-person audit team across the region.
Led internal audit for a top-10 Australian general insurer, reporting to the Board Audit and Risk Committee. Joined as a KPMG secondee and was appointed permanently on the strength of delivery — running a risk-based program and directing integration assurance across multiple acquired businesses, and delivering the full plan, every year, without slippage.
Delivered diagnostic, process-redesign and operational-risk engagements for leading Australian and international financial-services institutions, with an international posting in Singapore. Co-authored a KPMG publication on driving business performance through risk and compliance, drawn from interviews with more than eighty C-suite executives.
My signature theme is the technology-adoption curve: each wave reaches fifty million users faster than the last. The lesson for boards and assurance professionals is that the window to understand a new technology — and to govern its risk — keeps shrinking.
